The Gordon Research Conference on Plant Cell Walls РFrom Genomes to Function, was recently held in Waltham, Massachusetts USA and was attended by Professor Tony Bacic and Dr Monika Doblin from the UM node, Associate Professor Rachel Burton from the UA node and Emeritus Professor Geoff Fincher.

Associate Professor Burton presented her talk, “Is your Csl really what you think it is?”, in the Cell Wall Diversity and Evolutionary Session; Dr Doblin presented her talk, “Further insights into the molecular mechanism of (1,3;1,4)-b-glucan synthesis in grasses” in the ¬†Matrix Glycan Biosynthesis Session and Emeritus Professor Fincher presented a Key Note Lecture, “Evolutionary dynamics of cell wall polysaccharide synthesis in the grasses: from genomics to molecular mechanisms of (1,3;1,4)-b-glucan synthases” in The Biosynthesis of Structural Polymers in the Plant Cell Wall session. Dr Doblin also chaired the Cell Walls and Plant Growth Session and assisted with the judging of posters.

128 people from all over the world attended the prestigious conference.
