The Centre identified and prioritised the major questions and challenges facing the international plant cell wall community. We had implemented strategies through which the combined resources and expertise of our international partner investigators and collaborating institutions were efficiently directed towards answering those questions and challenges.

Our research structure ensured our ability to successfully apply for grants aligned to but not overlapping core projects. The structure allowed these non-core projects to capitalize upon our multi-disciplinary expertise in cell wall biology and benefit from our general research infrastructure.

The three programs, Synthesis and Assembly, Molecular and Cellular Mechanisms and Cell Wall Interactions were supported by a range of Platform Technologies, which were again collectively provided by the three Australian institutions and our international partners.
